July 20, 2010- August 22, 2010 What do grownups do all day at work? How do you become a fire fighter, lawyer, or teacher? Is play a kind of work? HSP’s Curator of Education, Jennifer Jang, addresses these questions through an interactive gallery tour for children ages 5-12. Children will be guided through HSP’s summer exhibition and engage in a hands-on, age-appropriate activity. Perfect for summer camp groups, family reunions, and homeschoolers! The tour is offered in conjunction with HSP’s summer exhibition, The Recession Hits Home: Job Loss in Central New Jersey. Groups are limited to 25 children; cost is $3/child. To schedule a group tour, please call 609-921-6748, x100 or email Jeanette@princetonhistory.org.
PICTURING PRINCETON THURSDAY, AUGUST 26, 2010 and FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 3, 2010 10:00AM- 11:00AM It’s hard for kids to believe, but once upon a time horses whinnied in Palmer Square, a four-story hotel towered over the western end of Nassau Street, and Bainbridge House looked like… Bainbridge House. HSP invites children to learn how these and other historic Princeton sites have changed over the years by taking a special walking tour. Children will make their own postcards to document the transformations. The tour is for children ages 6 and up; parents must accompany their child or children. $5 per child, $4 for members; adult chaperones are free. Please call 609.921.6748 ext 100 or email jeanette@princetonhistory.org to register as space is limited to 15 children.
Hunting for Treasure New this year at the Antiques Show: a scintillating Treasure Hunt for children ages 7-12! Dealers welcomed inquiries from our intrepid young guests, who scoured the booths for answers to the ten questions, then collected their prizes at the end. We asked kids to describe their favorite or “coolest” objects in the show, and here’s what caught their attention: Whale tooth with scrimshaw carving We hope you’ll bring your youngsters (again) next year for more exciting discoveries!
