481 Stockton Street

Part of The Next Generations’ Yeoman Farmers.

481

This house was built sometime mid-century on the same plot as 487 Stockton Street, though it is not entirely clear how the two were connected. One or both may have been tenant houses. It is thought that a blacksmith ran a shop here during the Revolution, residing at 487 Stockton Street. His role in the community would have been significant -- both producing and repairing tools for farms, homes, local militias and the Continental Army, and perhaps even local industry, like Worth’s Mill.
