Part of The Next Generations’ Yeoman Farmers.
Built on the original Clarke family tract sometime mid-century, this house’s architecture represents a transition from the plain, practical, sometimes piecemeal colonial style to the formal and symmetrical Georgian style. It is thus symbolic of the community’s increasing comfort and permanence throughout the 1700s. At one time a barn stood beside the home; perhaps this was the farmstead of a Clarke descendant, or a farmhouse rented out to others.
Original Sections: shorter west wing is likely the earliest build, with the main block of the house also likely dating from the 18th century
Present Use: private residence
