Albert Einstein’s Birthday/Pi Day
Saturday, March 14
Celebrate Albert Einstein’s 147th birthday with a talk at Princeton Public Library. At 11:00 am, author and journalist (and manager of Einstein’s social media accounts) Benyamin Cohen will discuss his book, The Einstein Effect: How the World’s Favorite Genius Got Into Our Cars, Our Bathrooms, and Our Minds, and why Einstein remains popular today. FREE.
In the afternoon, visit the Historical Society of Princeton’s museum (open 1:00-4:00 pm) to get an up close view of his furniture and other personal belongings, including special collections not typically on display to the public. Plus, Einstein himself will be in the museum to answer questions and take pictures.
$5 admission for ages 6 and up. Purchase tickets online before 3/14 to receive a unique gift: a First Day of Issue stamp commemorating the 100th anniversary of Einstein’s birth (one per family).
Spring date TBD
In 1953, the Marquand family donated 17 acres of their estate, Guernsey Hall, to the municipality of Princeton to serve as an arboretum and passive recreation park. Once part of a 30-acre farm owned by Judge Richard Stockton Field, Marquand Park is home to more than 140 different tree specimens, some dating back more than 170 years!
Explore this incredible preserve with members of the Marquand Park Foundation, who will share the property’s history and highlight the native and exotic trees in the collection.
