Historical Fiction Book Group

Date/Time
Date(s) - December 16, 2021
6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Get immersed in the world of a historical time and place, and then engage with a scholar to learn the “real” story. At meetings of the Historical Fiction Book Group, scholars participate in discussions of the fictional elements and the nonfictional context of selected books.

This virtual session (via Google Meet) will feature discussion of The Exiles, by Christina Baker Kline, with Maria John, Assistant Professor of Native American History, University of Massachusetts, Boston. This New York Times Bestseller follows women and children exiled to Australia as convicts in the nineteenth century. The novel focuses both on their journey and the world they encounter when they arrive, including members of the colony’s forcibly relocated indigenous groups.

Co-sponsored by the Princeton Public Library. Book Group sessions are NOT recorded.
