Historical Fiction Book Group

Date/Time
Date(s) - April 20, 2021
6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Get immersed in the world of a historical time and place, and then engage with a scholar to learn the “real” story. At meetings of the Historical Fiction Book Group, scholars participate in discussions of the fictional elements and the nonfictional context of selected books.

This virtual session (via Google Meet) will feature discussion of Hamnet, by Maggie O’Farrell, with Larry Danson, Professor of English Emeritus at Princeton University.

Set in 1580s Stratford, England during the Black Plague, this New York Times Best Seller imagines the domestic and artistic repercussions when a famous playwright and his wife lose their only son, 11-year old Hamnet.

Co-sponsored by the Princeton Public Library. Book Group sessions are NOT recorded.
