BUSINESS AND OPERATIONS MANAGER
The Historical Society of Princeton (HSP) seeks an organized, detail-oriented, resourceful, and flexible Business and Operations Manager to oversee all office functions of a dynamic non-profit organization. This position will report to the Executive Director, oversee financial (QuickBooks) and fundraising (DonorPerfect) databases, and work closely with the Accountant on monthly closing and audit support. The successful candidate will collaborate with all HSP staff and Trustees, maintain good relationships with vendors, sponsors, and donors, and be able to work effectively while unsupervised. We are seeking someone who is comfortable taking the initiative, who is curious, and who can multi-task within our small organization. Minimum of 3 years experience in accounting and finance. Experience working at a non-profit is a plus.
Hours and Compensation
This is a temporary to permanent position at $25.00 an hour, Monday – Friday, on-site at our beautiful Updike Farmstead. The position is in-office, not remote or hybrid.
Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily financial management (processing vendor invoices, depositing checks, maintaining accurate records).

Maintain office filings (including file sharing platforms), order supplies and equipment, coordinate equipment contracts and repairs, manage electronic and printed marketing materials, maintain HSP website

Oversee all donor database work including generating mailing lists, thank you letters, tax correspondence for donors, and with ED, writing, producing, and mailing all fundraising appeals

Work closely with outsourced Accountant on monthly closing and audit support

Assist ED and Trustees with production of spreadsheets, contact tracking, etc. for development-related activities

WALKING TOUR GUIDES
The Historical Society of Princeton (HSP) is looking for per-diem walking tour guides to lead historical tours of Princeton. Guides educate locals and out-of-towners on topics including the founding of the University, the American Revolution, and the evolution of the town over time.
This is a unique opportunity to expand your knowledge and share Princeton’s stories with visitors from around the world. HSP offers annual enrichment opportunities and other exciting benefits to walking tour guides.
Ideal candidates are in good physical condition, with a passion for history and a love of sharing stories with others. Guides initially volunteer their time to learn the rich cultural history of Princeton. Once trained, guides typically lead 1-3 tours per month and are paid per tour. Availability at least one Sunday per month is required.
