On June 9th, 2023, students will dive into the history and life of Princeton’s own Paul Robeson. Today, Robeson is considered an influential and celebrated figure in the history of Princeton. However, throughout his childhood, Robeson was faced with mistreatment through segregation and racial bias within his own hometown. As his fame and popularity as a musician and actor grew, he broke strong racial barriers which were pertinent at the time. After his death, the community that had once shunned him embraced his legacy.
